French Artist and Metal Designer
Pascale Mançon Pryor
Born in Argenteuil, France, Pascale Mançon Pryor grew up in Coulommiers and Paris. In 1979, at 19, she
set out to explore the Americas eventually landing in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where she attended college.
In the mid 1980's, Pascale relocated to Dallas and soon discovered the Dallas County Community College
system which provided the facilities and guidance, as well as the freedom, to experiment with different
mediums. After a flirtation with painting, Pascale returned to her childhood love of working in three
dimensions and ceramics. It was purely by accident that she discovered the medium that has dominated her
work for over a decade. At the time, her larger ceramic pieces required customized supports. But, rather
than depend on a metal craftsman, she chose to make her own. After a course in welding she was hooked.
"I fell in love with metal," Pascale says. "It has strength and endurance, and there are no limits to the size and shape it can take."
Although the materials change the overall aesthetic remains consistent. As Pascale explains, "through
each medium I work with, I strive to find a timeless, simple beauty--a natural rhythm in organic shapes."
An example of Pascale's most recent work as part of the Henderson Art Project is located at the southeast
corner of Belmont and Bennett. Other examples are available for view at www.lesjardinsdepascale.com.
Pascale Pryor resides in Oak Cliff.
